Richmond, VA Birth Photography: A Winter Home Birth.
It has been quite a while since I have added birth photography to the blog. The baby in this post is almost a year old to give an idea of exactly how behind I am on this. Besides being quite busy, I have also been questioning the best way to go about publishing birth images. What sort of narrative should accompany these photos? How much is too much to share? Can I just blog photos with no text? My very thoughtful colleague Cat did not make this any easier when she recently posted some information about unintended consequences of captioning other people's birth images or narrating another woman's birth. So for now I have decided yes, I can and I will blog photos with no text.
Home births have a very unique energy. You can feel it as you approach the door and before you even go inside. I am so lucky for each and every opportunity to witness the miracle of birth through this work!
